BISOUPDATER can be used to update the U-Boot firmware from an OS4 file.
When run, BIOSUpdater presents the following screen:

Near the top of the window are two file requester gadgets:
- The first requester gadget, Current UBoot (click to save to disk), can be used to save the current contents of the U-Boot ROM to a disk
file. Such files are identified by a ".wtf" suffix.
When you click on the gadget, a requester opens. Specify where you want the U-Boot image to be saved and click on OK. The default location is
the root filesystem on the system disk.
On completion a confirmation message is displayed in the large panel below the Start flash process button.
We recommend that you always save the current U-Boot image to disk before attempting to flash a new image as explained below.
- The second requester gadget, Select new UBoot image, can be used to select a disk file to be flashed to the UBoot ROM. Such files are
identified by a ".wtf" suffix.
When you click on the gadget, a requester opens. Locate and select the file containing the U-Boot image that you want to flash to the firmware
and click on OK. Once this file has been successfully read, it will display a confirmation message "Image file correctly parsed".
You must then click on the Start flash process button to initiate the firmware flash process. A progress bar along the bottom of the
window displays as the firmware is flashed.
On completion a confirmation message is displayed in the large panel below the Start flash process button.
IMPORTANT: Upgrading your firmware is potentially dangerous, such that if something goes wrong during the update, your system may not be able
to be rebooted from cold, i.e. power-up. Should this situation occur, you will need to return your system, or at least the U-Boot ROM, to your dealer
so that the firmware can be re-built.
However, unlike the AmigaOne Firmware Updater procedures, if something goes wrong during the update while using BIOSUpdater
which might otherwise have left your system unusable, BIOSUpdater gives you another chance. Since OS4 should continue to be operational, you can
either attempt a reflash using the new file, or reflash using the previous U-Boot image. For this reason we recommend that you always save the current
U-Boot image to disk before attempting to flash a new image.
Example:
3.OS4:> BIOSUPDATER
runs the BIOSUpdater program.
